RIMS was proud to attend the opening of the nation’s first state-sanctioned harm reduction center in Providence, a major milestone in addressing the opioid crisis. RIMS played a critical role in supporting the legislation, sponsored by Representative Jay Edwards and Senator Josh Miller, and in the development of the regulations that made this innovative pilot program possible. The center provides a safe, supervised space for individuals to access overdose prevention services and connect to treatment and recovery resources. This initiative marks a significant step forward in saving lives and improving public health in Rhode Island.
